Start self-examination of your foot looking for bruises, puncture wounds, redness, blisters, ulcers, cuts and nail damage. The goal should be to prevent and damage to the feet such as ulceration which might lead to amputation.
These are some tips that can help prevent wound infection and keep keep the feet in good shape.
1- Never walk barefoot.
2- Wash the feet everyday with mild soap and warm water.
3- Dry the feet with soft towel by patting and not rubbing.
4- Avoid trimming the corner of your toenails instead just trim straight across.
5- Apply skin lotion to the feet and legs to prevent dryness.
